To the Editor.—
I read with interest the fine article by Lipsy and colleagues,1 reviewing the histamine2 receptor antagonists. The authors stated that thrombocytopenia has not been reported with ranitidine administration. To my knowledge, at least five separate case reports have already been published2-6 concerning ranitidineinduced thrombocytopenia.Although ranitidine-induced thrombocytopenia is relatively rare, it seems prudent to make other clinicians aware of these well-documented reports in the literature.
