We would like to comment on the article by Dr Mosca1 in which the role of HRT in cardiovascular disease is reviewed. The author emphasizes the contradictory results that exist between observational data that support a beneficial role of HRT and the randomized data that do not support it. We conducted a written survey on the effect of HRT on the risk of CHD to assess the experts' opinion on this topic. We identified 108 articles, published in leading journals between 1990 and 1999, that explicitly mentioned HRT and cardiovascular disorders. The opinion of 37 authors who answered the questionnaire is shown in Table 1.
