My coauthors and I appreciate the thoughtful comments of Drs Iserson and Spalding. Dr Iserson vividly describes challenges that he faced and the accommodations that he made as a medical student and later as an emergency medicine physician because of his color blindness. The eloquent comments of color-blind neurologist Dr Robert D. Currier1 dealing with the same kinds of issues are also well-worth reading by any color-blind perspective medical student, matriculated medical student, or practicing physician.
