In Reply.—  The case reported by Drs Winkler and Yam seems to confirm that pleural involvement may not be uncommon in histiocytosis X. As we stressed in our two cases, the diagnosis of histiocytosis X cannot be excluded in the presence of a pleural effusion. We thank Drs Winkler and Yam for their interesting case record.
