The small monograph reports on the author's experience with 1,100 cases where diagnostic x-ray studies were made prior to laparoscopy. With the author's increasing experience in this diagnostic procedure he was able to come up with accurate diagnoses in the majority cases.
The method proved useful in conditions of the diaphragm, the abdominal wall, the liver, spleen, gall bladder, pancreas, and the female pelvic organs. Complications and risks of the procedure, although mostly minor, should be well recognized and the diagnostic gain weighed against the involved risk.
The booklet is recommended for physicians doing laparoscopy and those radiologists who will have opportunity to work with the laparoscopist.
