For an article by Grunwald et al titled “Images in Neurology: Liposuction in Mind,” published in the June 2009 issue of the Archives,1 Arani Bose, MD, indicated on his financial disclosure form that he had no financial disclosure to make. It has since come to our attention that he is chairman of Penumbra Inc (Alameda, California), manufacturer of the Penumbra System used to extract the embolus from the patient in their article. Clearly, he does have a conflict of interest and should have reported it in his financial disclosure. The matter was called to his attention, and he agreed that he should have made this disclosure; his letter of explanation is included here.
