In this month's Archives of Neurology, the editors are happy to present a new feature, the clinical pathologic conference (CPC). The CPC is different from a simple case report. Typical case reports are valuable to highlight unusual presentations of common disorders or classical presentations of rare disorders; however, the usual case report often fails to help the reader develop a sense of the diagnostic process. In addition to sharing an interesting and informative case report, the CPC also provides insight into clinical problem solving and into the correlation between clinical presentation and pathologic findings. The orderly approach to localization and diagnosis is fundamental in clinical neurology, and the correlation between neuropathology and clinical presentation is a key to an improved understanding of neurological disorders.
