Abstract

This volume is composed of a brief description of the approaches and techniques for superior pneumoencephalography, followed by 283 figures presented in 12 groupings. The illustrations are life-size and reproduced on letter-size pages which allow space for explanatory line drawing to accompany the majority of the radiographs. Greatest emphasis is placed on horizontal x-ray beam tomography. The newer technique of axial transverse tomography also is illustrated.

The style of the book is illustrative with simple legends used to identify the more important gross structures observed in pneumograms. The radiographic reproductions are excellent and the companion line drawings are clearly and accurately labeled. In many instances, an entire page is used to present one anatomic structure in an unobstructed manner that is highly pleasing to students. Some repetition which occurs throughout the volume is not considered objectionable. Indexing is superior and enhances the value of the book as a reference work.
