Neckache and backache, although mundane problems, are a tremendous cause of disability in our modern society. This monograph, resulting from a symposium, discusses these topics from a clinical, experimental, and economic point of view. Common medical and surgical lesions are discussed and illustrated.

The illustrations are of uneven quality with excellent drawings, but many inadequate x-ray reproductions. The chapter on x-ray examination of the spine has no illustrations.

The staggering economic burden of patients with neck and low back difficulties would appear to this reviewer to demand a longer and more detailed presentation of the problem.
