Herbert Jasper has had a profound influence on many aspects of neurophysiology and experimental neuropathology. It is hardly surprising that over 200 of the outstanding workers in this field would gather to honor him at a symposium in 1970. This volume is the happy result of that meeting and its papers contain important and sometimes entirely fresh material on many of the areas of Jasper's interests, ranging from cerebral edema to unit activity, to behavior, and to single cell responses.
