The authors have revised and expanded their excellent book of the same title published in 1967. Much of the material and the general format of the first edition has been retained, but with improved figures and illustrations. The chapter on medical treatment with cerebrovascular disease has been updated to reflect current experience with drugs that affect platelet aggregation. The section on the physiology of the cerebral circulation has been expanded, and two new chapters have been added on the applied embryology of the cerebral vessels and on rare and unusual forms of cerebrovascular disease.
The book is aimed at the clinicians with emphasis given to the diagnosis and management of common vascular problems. Students will find sufficient background information on anatomy and pathophysiology to make this book useful as an introductory text for neurology clinical workshops or as an adjunct to neuropathology course work.
