Ipsilateral Hemiplegia and the Wallenberg Syndrome

• We documented the anatomic basis for hemiplegia occurring on the same side of the body as the lateral medullary infarction. Extension of the zone of ischemia into the rostral spinal cord involves corti-cospinal fibers after they cross from the opposite side.
