News From NINCDS Spinal Cord Injury Investigation Proposals Encouraged.
—The Division of Stroke and Trauma of NINCDS is seeking individual research grant and program project grant applications related to traumatic injury of the spinal cord.The ultimate goal of this research initiative is to discover effective prevention of, or treatment for the paralysis that follows a traumatic injury to the spinal cord. A broad range of investigational approaches will be considered, from basic studies of the functional neuroanatomy of the spinal cord to clinical trials of promising treatments.Applications for interdisciplinary studies are welcome if they demonstrate that appropriate interest, abilities, and facilities are available. Such studies could include basic, applied, and clinical approaches involving
