This book is divided into three parts that discuss muscle diseases (including abnormalities of neuromuscular transmission), neuropathies, and motor neuron diseases. The book provides a concise reference text on neuromuscular disease for the French-speaking internist or neurologist who is interested in a quick review of this topic. The book is focused on the inclusion of a comprehensive list of various neuromuscular disease entities, but is less concerned with providing a diagnostic approach to clinical problems.

The chapters on inherited neuropathies follow a classification familiar to those conversant with the French-language medical literature but somewhat outdated and less accepted internationally than the classification offered by P.J. Dyck. The organization of the chapters is at times confusing and difficult to follow because of the large number of headings and subheadings. The book contains many good quality blackand-white illustrations but would have benefitted from the more frequent use of summary tables.
