In reply  In 1988, commenting on the fact that the use of magnesium rested more on custom than on scientific proof, I wrote that "magnesium sulfate should be relegated to the laboratory, a clinical trial, or history. "1My call for a clinical trial has been answered, not by one, but by two credible clinical trials.2,3I am delighted to update my comment: Drs Sheth and Riggs' hypothesis belongs to the laboratory, the verdict to the clinical trials, and my previous comment to history.
