Association of Varicella-Zoster Virus With Cervical Artery Dissection in 2 Cases

Arch Neurol. 2000;57(3):427. doi:

I read with interest the article by Grau et al1 on the association of cervical artery dissection (CAD) with preceding infection. This observation of 2 cases suggests that another specific infectious agent, the varicella-zoster virus, the causative agent of herpes zoster and chickenpox, may rarely be associated with CAD and may be added to their list of potential causitive microbes.
