This book is conceived as a resource for the patient with chronic pain. As such, it lacks the depth of information required as a reference for the clinician. However, for the patient with chronic pain, it will likely be an informative and helpful introduction to pain management.

The chapters are easy to read and straightforward. The text is divided into 7 sections, including overviews of chronic pain, soft tissue problems such as fibromyalgia and myofascial pain syndrome, and treatment modalities (ie, trigger point injections). Additionally, physical therapy and medication management of pain are discussed, while psychological and stress management treatments are briefly addressed. Finally, a handful of testimonials written by pain patients are interjected throughout the text.
