Preparing for the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN) examination is an important step every neurologist in the United States has to go through. Having a comprehensive but a brief reference to read before the examination is very helpful. In addition, books that are written in the board format, ie, question-and-answer format, are probably the most useful. A unique feature of the ABPN examination is the inclusion of the 2 fields of neurology and psychiatry in the same examination, which requires board review books to include the 2 fields as well in the same book.
