To the Editor We read with interest the recent JAMA Oncology Clinical Challenge by Santamaria-Barria et al,1 which reviews the diagnosis, molecular biology, and treatment of metastatic gastrointestinal stromal tumor (GIST) in a 20-year-old woman who was 16 weeks pregnant. Educating readers about these rare and challenging cases is valuable, and we thank the authors and editorial board for their case selection. However, we believe that important hereditary risks relevant to this case should also be highlighted because diagnostic delays could have catastrophic implications.
