Engerman and Kern raise the issue of whether the glycated hemoglobin values in our experimental animals indicate that the rats that received an ARI were less galactosemic than animals that received the galactose diet alone or those that received this diet with aminoguanidine. We considered that possibility at length in the last paragraph of our "Results" section.1
