If the state of affairs documented by Franco-Cardenas and colleagues in their article1 on women’s authorship in the “big 3” ophthalmic publications continues—and their survey suggests no reason to believe otherwise—this 1 opinion piece increases by 20% the count of female-penned editorials in all 3 of our highest-impact ophthalmology journals for this entire year. Luckily, however, as also documented herein, there are reinforcements on the horizon.
