The Center for Devices and Radiological Health (CDRH) of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) ensures that patients and health care professionals have timely and continued access to safe, effective, and high-quality medical devices and safe radiation-emitting products. We also strive to provide accessible information about these products. To achieve this part of our mission, CDRH must find and use experts from outside the center from different scientific disciplines, including ophthalmology, microbiology, and engineering.
