REVIEWS OF open-angle glaucoma (OAG) over the past 30 years have pointed out its importance as a major cause of visual dysfunction both in the United States and worldwide.1-3 Those same reviews have bemoaned the fact that, while we have estimates of the prevalence of OAG in numerous communities by means of good population surveys, we lack information on the incidence of this debilitating condition.
