One of the challenges associated with a multivolume text encompassing
a branch of the sciences is that when one is finished with the first edition,
one has only begun the second. To truly have a living text, it must be updated
to maintain its vibrancy and pertinence to the science. The editors of Principles and Practices of Ophthalmology have taken this
responsibility seriously and have done an excellent job in keeping this book
the reference by which other ophthalmology texts are judged.
