Methodological and Efficacy Issues in a Randomized Clinical Trial Investigating Vitreous Floater Treatment

To the Editor We read with interest the trial1 comparing sham YAG treatment with YAG vitreolysis treatment for symptomatic vitreous floaters. We congratulate Shah and Heier on their publication, and we hope it inspires further discussion of their results as well as future research in this area.

Recently, we published a Cochrane review on this subject,2 and we wish to explain why this newly published trial1 did not meet our inclusion criteria. We would also like to highlight several methodological limitations within the trial.
