Dr Mauriello has edited a multiauthored single-volume textbook that
focuses on avoiding, recognizing, and managing the complications of eyelid
and lacrimal surgery. There are 30 chapters divided into 3 parts, with 90
contributing authors. Part 1 covers aesthetic surgery of the eyelid, eyebrow,
and midface. This section seeks to help readers understand the aging face.
Each chapter identifies the complications associated with a particular procedure
and discusses the steps to take to avoid them. Part 2 covers reconstructive
surgery of the eyelid and face. This section is comprehensive, discussing
the more common issues of ptosis and entropion repair, as well as more complex
lid retraction issues and lid defect reconstruction after tumor removal. Part
3 deals with lacrimal drainage surgery for the adult and pediatric patient.
This section discusses the latest innovations in instrumentation and endoscopic
lacrimal surgery. Throughout the text, the discussions are illustrated with
good color photographs and excellent referencing.
