Intraocular Lenses in Cataract and Refractive Surgery provides a useful addition to the reference library of the cataract
surgeon, especially the young ophthalmologist-in-training and the practicing
surgeon wishing to fine-tune or update her or his techniques.
This book is a handy reference that will help eye surgeons to better
understand principles and technical subtleties of the various cataract and
intraocular lens (IOL) procedures now in vogue. The prime focus of the text
is not on IOLs per se, but rather, on the surgical techniques that each author
deems most useful to safely implant them. They focus on clinical indications
and implantation techniques required for the numerous IOL types and models
in use today. General descriptions of these IOLs are provided, but in general,
this is not a text that the surgeon would primarily use to evaluate the fine
points of various IOL designs and biomaterials. For this, other sources need
to be consulted.
