Optic Nerve Hypoplasia in the Eye and Beyond

A child was brought by his parents for an evaluation of a deviation of his left eye since he was 2 years of age. His visual acuity was 20/20 OD and 20/80 OS, with an exotropia of 30 prism diopters. Optic nerve hypoplasia was noted in the left eye (Figure, A). Magnetic resonance imaging showed a large porencephalic cyst communicating with the left lateral ventricles (Figure, B).
