It is difficult to improve on a classic, but the editors and authors of the third edition of Retina have succeeded. This 3-volume set summarizes our current knowledge about the retina and will serve for many years as an important reference for clinicians and scientists alike.
The set is attractively designed and carefully edited. For the first time with this edition color is used to highlight text and tables. Pages are color coded within sections. There are 1000 new illustrations in color in addition to more than 2800 black and white figures. The comparatively large format of these images greatly enhances the educational value of each volume. With very few exceptions the quality of the images and the color rendition so important to this discipline is accurate. A table of contents and comprehensive index of all 3 volumes appears in each volume.
