Dr. Joseph L. McCool, Portland, Ore., has been elected to the Chair of Ophthalmology in the Medical Department of the University of California, to succeed Dr. Walter Scott Franklin whose resignation took effect on July. Dr. McCool will move to San Francisco at an early date where he will open an office for private practice.
Dr. Joseph A. White, emeritus professor of ophthalmology, Medical College of Virginia, is the recipient of an honorary LL.D. from Mount St. Mary's College of Emmitsburg, Md.
Exercises for the dedication of the Wilmer Ophthalmological Institute will be held Oct. 15 and 16, 1929, under the auspices of the Johns Hopkins University, the Johns Hopkins Hospital and the William Holland Wilmer Foundation.
