The purpose of this book is to instruct the oculist on radium therapy and is the outcome of many years' collective work between the eye clinic in Vienna, and the skin clinic, of which the radium institute is a part. The general part gives a physical introduction, a description of the technical part of radiation, and the action of radiant waves. In the clinical part, the radium treatment of malignant tumors is first taken up ; then follow its application in diseases of the lids, conjunctiva, lacrimal organs, cornea, sclera, uvea, retina, lens, glaucoma, optic nerve, myopia, vitreous and orbit. A complete bibliography is appended.

The methods of applying radium are first described with its filtration and the precautions necessary to avoid undesired action and injury to the tissues. After discussing its biologic action on the eye, the injuries to the eye and its surroundings from radium are taken up (p.
