It was considered necessary and important to know (1) the average sugar content of normal eyes, (2) the content of the eyes of persons with cataract and of persons with diabetes and (3) the changes in the sugar content of the eyes of the normal and of the abnormal subject at various periods of the day, a comparison being made with the fluctuations of the level of the sugar in the blood and the tissue.
The reports on the sugar level of human aqueous have indicated that it is below that of the blood.
