Dr. Henry Carroll Smith has recently been appointed associate professor of clinical ophthalmology at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine, Nashville, Tenn.

Dr. Walter Robert Parker received the honorary degree of Doctor of Science at the recent commencement exercises of the University of Michigan. Dr. Parker was professor of ophthalmology at the university for twenty-eight years. He has been professor emeritus since 1933.


Examination by American Board of Ophthalmology.—Because of a conflict in dates, the American Board of Ophthalmology has canceled its examination set for Tuesday, September 17, at Cincinnati. Instead, there will be an examination on Monday, November 18, at St. Louis, at the time of the meeting of the Southern Medical Association.

All applications should be filed with the secretary, Dr. William H. Wilder, 122 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, at least sixty days prior to the date of the meeting.
