Abstract

In this manual Parkinson has attempted to assemble in a condensed form the fundamentals of the knowledge of the eye, ear, nose and throat as they are related to nursing. Approximately one hundred pages are devoted to the eye.

In part I the anatomy of these organs is detailed briefly with the aid of simple but readily understandable sketches and photographs. There is also a brief but comprehensive description of the commoner diseases of the eye, ear, nose and throat. Each chapter concludes with a short list of questions which may be used for "quiz" purposes.

In part II the various operations are listed. The preoperative preparation for each operation is described, and there is a complete list of the necessary instruments. This section has some excellent photographs of the instruments used, a feature which should make it valuable in the operating room.
