American Ophthalmological Society
—The American Ophthalmological Society will celebrate the seventy-fifth anniversary of its founding at a meeting to be held at the Homestead, Hot Springs, Va., June 5 to 7. In memory of the distinguished ophthalmologists who were instrumental in organizing the first society of medical specialists in the United States, the program of the usual three day meeting has been augmented to include a banquet, at which papers bearing on the relation of this society to the development of ophthalmic science will be read. At the banquet the history of the society will be presented in a paper by Dr. Harry Friedenwald, of Baltimore, who has been a member since 1894. Mr. H. M. Traquair, of Edinburgh, Scotland, will be the invited guest. At the first meeting of the society, held on June 7, 1864, at the New York Eye Infirmary, Dr. Edward Delafield, of New
