This volume is a selection of abstracts published in The Journal of the American Medical Association made by Dr. Noah D. Fabricant, Editorial Associate of The Journal. According to the editor, the purpose of this selection is "to emphasize two dominant aspects of contemporary clinical practice—Diagnosis and Treatment—the abstracted selections for inclusion in this book are limited to these important fields." It is difficult to judge any except those in the Section on Ophthalmology. It is hard to believe that any ophthalmologist would buy the 13 abstracts listed here when he could obtain them almost as easily in his own Journal. The general practitioner might find this book of some use, but here, again, the questionable advantage of having these abstracts bound in one volume instead of retaining them in The Journal would have to be balanced against the price of the book.
