—A great milestone in the muscular dystrophy field is the announcement of a five-year $250,000 research project sponsored jointly by the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and the National Muscular Dystrophy Research Foundation.A check for $100,000—down payment on a quarter million dollars worth of hope—was presented to Dr. John B. Truslow, executive director of the Medical Branch, on Monday, May 7."It is the hope of the Medical Branch that by setting up the teamwork approach of many departments the cause and cure of the disease can be found here," Dr. Truslow said."The field of endeavor," Dr. Mason Guest, consultant for the Medical Branch hospitals, said, "is wide open."Dr. Guest is chairman of the department of physiology and will lead a committee of nine medical department men in the broadest possible attack against the ignorance which keeps medical science
