Establishment of Committee on the Use of α-Chymotrypsin in Ophthalmology.
—At the Annual Meeting of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and and Otolaryngology, a Committee on the Use of α-Chymotrypsin in Ophthalmology was established. The members are Drs. A. E. Maumenee; Ludwig von Sallmann; Richard Troutman, Secretary; David Shoch, and Derrick Vail, Chairman.The purpose of this Committee is to act as a collector of data on the use of this enzyme by ophthalmologists in the United States and to evaluate the results, in order to determine the hazards, side effects, complications, etc. of its use in cataract surgery.Correspondence regarding the work of this Committee should be directed to Dr. Richard C. Troutman, 430 E. 63d St., New York 21.
