Something New on the Horizon

The support of ophthalmic research has come a long way in the past 10 years. Sources have been governmental agencies, especially the National Institutes of Health and the Atomic Energy Commission, and such private foundations as the National Council to Combat Blindness, the National Society for the Prevention of Blindness, the Knights Templars, the Ophthalmological Foundation, various Lions Clubs, as well as a host of individual donors.

The most recent addition to this list is Research to Prevent Blindness, Inc. This new source of as yet unspecified amounts has several unusual features, not the least of which is its chairman, variously addressed as Mr. or Dr. Jules C. Stein. As Mr. Stein, he is president and founder of the well-known Music Corporation of America.
