Abstract

This abridged English version of Jean Sédan's Post Cure de L'Amblyope Rééduqué contains "visual exercises designed to make the patient concentrate on the printed matter or on the arithmetical or pictorial problem presented to him.... It also includes certain training exercises which help to improve visual orientation by the association of eye and hand movements." In functional amblyopia, the author recognizes two factors: (1) inhibition (suppression), (2) disturbances in spacial localization (eccentric fixation). In this text methods are given to overcome each of these factors. The schemes, which are well thought out, will make the educational process easier for the parent and less boring to the child. It can be recommended to those ophthalmologists and orthoptists interested in visual training.
