Introduction  It is the purpose of this study to establish the actuality of congruity and incongruity in incomplete homonymous hemianoptic visual field defects produced by lesions affecting the visual cortex of the occipital lobes and the anterior optic radiations in the temporal lobes. It is believed that the clinical data presented here will add to our knowledge of the architecture of the optic radiation in the temporal lobe of man and the visual cortex in the calcarine fissure of the occipital lobe. In the absence of conclusive transynaptic degeneration studies, the quantitative perimetric examination of persons with precisely localized cerebral lesions is the only present method of arriving at an understanding of the visual fiber patterns in these areas of the cerebral hemisphere.A lesion involving the anterior optic radiation in the temporal lobe is often indistinguishable from one affecting the visual cortex of the occipital lobe, except for the
