Abstract

The general layout of the book is similar to the second edition, and this reviewer feels a sense of disappointment that the name of one of the original authors has been excluded. The text is divided into two parts; the first deals with an orientation to fusion, to refractive errors, and to the etiology of strabismus; the second part deals with the rehabilitation or the treatment of strabismus.

Many questions that arise in the minds of parents are answered in this book which was written primarily for this purpose. Although the work is permeated by common sense and basic principles, it is still somewhat advanced for this group. As in any scientific field, when an author is writing for the layman he finds it difficult to restrict the text to short sentences and simple words without becoming involved and verbose, and the first section suffers from this.
