This book deals with diseases of the retina, choroid, vitreous body, and optic nerve head. The pathological changes in each of these regions are described clearly and illustrated beautifully with a large number of photomicrographs and excellent fundus drawings. The observations of the clinician are carefully related to the pathologic physiology.
Sections of the book which are particularly valuable are those devoted to a description of the methodology in examining a fundus. A discussion of electroretinography provides the reader with an understanding of the role of this procedure in fundus pathology. Descriptions and illustrations define with clarity the normal variations and most anomalous situations. There is an excellent discussion of neovascularization.
Therapeutic considerations are somewhat limited. Discussions of symptomatology and of the clinical course of various diseases are also restricted.
The bibliography is relatively complete.
