The Hereditary Chorioretinal Degenerations (Tapetoretinal Degenerations) is a communication sponsored by the Société Française d'Ophtalmologie. The work is written in two volumes, and the first volume is reviewed here. A. Franceschetti, J. François, and J. Babel have directed the accumulation of material dealing with the subject and have had contributions from most European authorities. The chapters are well written, well organized, and prepared in a manner that is comprehensible and worthwhile to ophthalmologists. Extensive bibliographies follow every chapter, and pertinent papers from the world literature are mentioned in support of the present thinking about these abiotrophies. Brief and concise historical sketches introduce each chapter and provide an excellent background for the discussion that follows. Each chapter is a separate unit that deals with a particular aspect of the tapetoretinal degenerations in a thorough manner, reflecting the most recent theories and technical advances.
The first volume is divided into two parts.
