I am writing concerning the paper "Glaucoma Associated With Chymotrypsin" by R. E. Kirsch, MD in the November 1964 issue of the Archives, which I enjoyed very much. In the comment it was stated, "Since the inception of this study in 1960 the only reference in the literature to a possible relationship between α-chymotrypsin and glaucoma in the immediate postoperative period has been in the discussion by Le Grand of a paper by Polliot and Lods in 1962..."For whatever interest it may have, there is a passing reference to just such a relationship in the Anales del Instituto Barraquer vol 1, No. 3, 1960. In the article on "La Zonulolisis Enzimatica de Barraquer" the author, F. Galindes Iglesias, states (my translation from Spanish), "At the end of the procedure, we make a lavage with saline to wash out the exess of enzyme, since in the early
