This work commenced as a personal notebook kept by the author to annotate the various ocular findings in a variety of systemic diseases. Now a text, it lists over 500 specific systemic disorders in which ocular signs may be found. The systemic diseases are arranged alphabetically. The ocular signs are arranged for each systemic disease according to a uniform anatomic plan, eg, vision, fields, extraocular muscles, globe, lid, lacrimal, conjunctiva, cornea, anterior chamber, etc. As the author points out, although this catalogue may help the busy clinician recall or review instantly certain ocular manifestations of specific systemic diseases, "it is no substitute for the careful and detailed study of authoritative textbooks and clinical reports."
