Abstract

Louise L. Sloan has produced in this concentrated booklet a tool that should be available to every person interested in helping people who are partially sighted. There are 33 pages utilized to present the problems, the various devices, the sources of supply, and a simplified method of testing arrived at by years of experience. Her own code of "M" level based upon a reading distance of 40 cm (16") (2½ diopters) provides a simple "modus operandi" and a special table of available magnifiers for each such "M" level of vision will surely reduce the time required to make the examination and determine the required visual aid. Included is a description of the test kit developed under her guidance. It is a happy combination to have this booklet made available by the National Society for the Prevention of Blindness with its great resources, prestige, and circulation among all interested in eye
