To the Editor
—In 1965, I described peculiar cystic changes in the ciliary body and pars plana as characteristic and perhaps specific lesions of multiple myelomatosis.1 In a recent article in your journal, four more cases were reported2 and the interesting suggestion was made that the cysts might be due to the toxic effects of urethane on the ciliary epithelium. I think it should be put on record, therefore, that neither of the two patients I reported had been treated with urethane or other cytotoxic drugs, and I have since verified this with the clinicians concerned.
