Abstract

The histologic findings in 17 corneal buttons from patients with keratoconus are described. Amyloid deposits were found in three specimens. Five others demonstrated a marked increase in normal corneal birefringence. Iron deposits in corneal epithelium were present in 14 of 16 corneas examined despite the fact that Fleischer's line was noted in only one.
