The retinal fluorescence angiography patterns before and during common carotid artery occlusion in rhesus monkeys have been compared. During acute occlusion, there was a prolongation of the development of the phases of fluorescence. Fluorescence angiography may prove to be a worthwhile diagnostic tool in the evaluation of patients with suspected carotid artery disease if the proper equipment can be developed.
